Paula Read was born and raised on the California coast, where she studied History at the University of California Berkeley before embarking on a life lived abroad. She moved to Japan, and then Germany, before settling in eastern France, where she’s been living with her family in the foothills of the Jura mountains ever since. Her first book was a German-English dictionary for the film business in Germany. She worked as a writer and translator in Germany, and kept writing while raising her daughter in France, publishing short stories, essays, and articles in a variety of journals and newspapers. She’s an avid gardener, swimmer, and walker. Currently working on a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol, she’s always thinking about the next story that wants to be written.
